2023 Australia Day & Chinese New Year Festival

Supported by the National Australia Day Council, this Australia Day community event is to respect and reflect on Australia’s history and people, and to celebrate our National Australia Day with the celebration of the Chinese New Year among the linguistically diversed cultural communities in Brisbane, and in particular the Chinese community.
This event is supported by Women’s Mentoring Foundation and Pushpa Vaghela.
All are welcome!
Programs are as follows:
SunPac Green Outdoor Family Fun Day
11am-4pm: International Food Market
11am-2pm: Beautiful stilt walker, face painting for children
11:30am-1:00pm Mr Fye, offers the greatest and funniest live family entertainment with:
- children’s magical acts,
- fun balloon twisting,
- with his award winning skills at thrilling, engaging and blowing the minds of every audience, large or small.
2pm-4pm: Continuing the celebration with the community performances at an outdoor stage showcasing live community cultural performances.
SunPac Theatre
12pm-2pm: Australia Day and Chinese New Year Opening Gala Concert, including:
- the superb First Nation cultural performances of dance,
- story telling and didgeridoo playing,
- the impressive grand Chinese orchestra,
- the fanscinating Beijing opera,
- a dazzling series of Chinese song and dance including the stunning award-wining dance “Mulan”,
- the high-spirited sumptuous Spanish Flamenco dance and songs, and
- the exquisite Thai cultural dance that will treat the audience with a hypnotic cultural experience

SCSC Orchard Room
4pm – 5:30pm: The Australia Day celebration will end with an Australia Day Business Networking event.
