This week saw Pushpa (CEO) of Women’s Mentoring Foundation (WMF), speak at EID celebrations and better mental health for CALD women. A part of what Pushpa spoke on was Self Leadership, i.e., beginning self-awareness, which is the experience of one’s own personality or individuality and the importance it has in all areas of the life we are living. When we are practicing self-awareness, self-respect, self-love, etc., it begins a journey for us to start learning about who we really are, to better understand why we think our thoughts, why we feel what we feel and why we behave in a particular way. A lot of our behaviours come from our beliefs, cultural influences, and upbringing. To begin our journey of the self, it’s important to identify our spheres of influence in the first instance. As mentioned, this was just a part of the talk.
The second event this week saw Pushpa attend the Social Enterprise Masterclasses event — WMF is a Social Enterprise! WMF connects clients with a team of our and other qualified mental health professionals, and ensures quality and adherence to regulations and standards. We are a non-profit organisation that is creating a unique movement for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) women, and is a community-based mental health service that works towards giving every CALD woman equal access to mental health support services early, affordably, directly, and without stigma or delay.
