This week’s blog is a continuation from last week and re-sharing essential tips for maintaining and improving your over health.
1. Eat healthily
Eating more fruits and vegetables lowers the risks of depression. Studies show vitamins and minerals in fruit and vegetables increase balance while also helping to lower markers of inflammation, such as C-reactive protein. Similarly, adding more fibre to the diet increases toxin removal and build up decreasing depression risk.
2. Stop obsessing about failures
Stop overthinking failures, they are there to teach us the correct path. Excessive negative thinking about is linked to depression and anxiety. When people compare a mental vision of their ideal with the failure to reach it, this produces psychological distress, and is is psychologically damaging.
3. Reduce inactive activities
Studies have shown a correlation between activity levels and reduced depression due to increased levels happy hormones known as Dopamine. Cutting down on screen time strongly advised as it reduces depression risk, more and more studies are showing the negative impact of increased screen time on the mental health of our younger generation. So whether people have previously experienced a depressive episode or not reducing the screen and getting adequate sleep improves mood even in people who have not experienced depression.
4. Be in nature
When we feel completely safe, our body devotes resources to long-term investments that lead to good health outcomes such as growing, reproducing, and building the immune system. Being in nature relaxes the mind, which in turn enhances the immune system. Nature induces a relaxed state that signals to our body that it’s safe. Allowing the body it invest it resources toward the immune system.
5. Take up a hobby
People who take up any hobbies reduce their risk of depression by up to one-third. Pursuing hobbies increases recovery of a person suffering from depression by up to 272 percent. Hobbies do not necessarily need to be social to be beneficial to mental health, however, some studies have found that social hobbies can be particularly beneficial to increased happiness.
